Invasives Species Committee

Chair: Bob Wald

Contact: rjwald1@bellsouth.net

In concert with the Upper Broad River Watershed Protection Program, the Invasive Species Committee has embarked upon a mission to educate the public about a pest which is killing our hemlocks. Hickory Nut Gorge is now infested with the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. Brochures describing this pest, its effects on our trees and gorge, and methods we can use to control it have been widely distributed. Our educational material has been sent to all property owners of more than one acre in and around the gorge. Additional materials have been placed in all four local post offices. Additional brochures are available and can be mailed. To obtain one, contact Bob Wald at 625-1805 or rjwald1@bellsouth.net.
